Traps and Type of Traps
traps
Is ahigh point in the reservoir rock where the gas or oil is concentrated as it flows in an upward direction along the reservoir rock layer
Traps is underground rock information that blocks the movement of petroleum
Traps found in sedimentary rock such as sandstones and limestones
Type of traps
Formed by the deformation of the rock such a a folded arch
(dome or an anticline)
or
a break
(afults)
stratigraphic trap
Formed when the was originally deposited (in ariver channal or reef
or
when part of the reservoir was removed by erosion
In the reservoir rock trap, the fluids separate according to their density the gas goes to the top, the oil to the middle and the water to the bottom
The common reservoir rock is sandstone which is composed of sand grains. the pores are located in the spaces between the individual sand grains limestone, primarily formed by biological materials such as shell beds or reefs are also reservoir rocks
Some limestones are originally deposited with pore spaces
